Olympic Fever

As I'm sure you all realise, the Olympics are happening right now. And it's happening in my country, and in my city! I unfortunately was unable to get tickets (devastated), but when I heard about BT London Live happening at Hyde Park which is free, and that McFly, my favourite band were taking part, I jumped at the chance. So yesterday me and my friend Kirsi got up early and travelled to Hyde Park, and got there just before 9am.
They had about four large screens dotted around with different sport playing live from the Olympics. We immediately sat down and watched the triathlon which was literally happening live behind us in the same park, and we even had the helicopters right above us filming them.

Team GB unfortunately came 5th in that particular race, but we then went on to see GB win 2 golds in the rowing that morning, and the atmosphere was incredible! Getting to be in a massive crowd all cheering for the same team, and the loud roar when we won!
We spent most of the day sat on my blanket, enjoying the Olympics as well as the weather (which was forecast to rain and thunder, and instead it was very hot and I was so unprepared that I'm now paying for it in very bad sunburn!).
The shock of the day was when Bradley Wiggins came on stage! The crowd went wild, including me. He is such a hero, and really down to earth.
And then of course McFly came on stage. It was really refreshing to be in a crowd for once that weren't crazy McFly fans (I put myself in that crazy category), and the fact that we were outside. The played just over an hour set, most of which I saw on tour already this year. But this covered the Beatles Twist & Shout which was a great surprise. I didn't want it to end.
Overall it was a great day, and I finally feel better for being just that little bit involved with the Olympics. I feel so proud to be British, as well as so proud to be a Londoner right now.
BT London Live is happening every day in Hyde Park with different acts each day, and it's free entry, so if you're in London I recommend popping down!
